Match update | November 2015

Frankie Hatton  |  2 November 2015

Although we had a rather wet weekend in Gibraltar we scored lucky as the game wasn't rained off.

The Lionesses went out first kicking off at 5pm on the 1st November in their match against Europa FC Ladies. In an interview with their coach Adrian, he told me the ladies, who are the current league champions totally dominated the game winning 4-0 against their opponents Europa FC.

The first team were up against Manchester 62 one of the teams expected to do well this season. The first half was dominated by the Lions. JuanLu opted for a very quick pass and move style literally trying to outpace and drive

the opposition out of fitness. He chose the right players to do this, and with great results as both Lata and Jonay scored taking us into the break at 2-0.

More of the same was expected the second half but with Man62 scoring on 50 minutes it seemed as though we took our foot off the gas for about 20 minutes. Rafa Bardo, Sykes Garro and Diego Pacheco came on as substitues for Jonay, Ishmael and Navaez to change things up which it did when Rafa took a corner and Salas heading in for 3-1 on 74 minutes.

After that we looked again like dominating and perhaps should have had another 1 or 2 but on 80 minutes league top scorer Tonchef once again hit the onion bag making it 3-2. That was where it finished with pressure from both sides but the Lions again having the better of the play overall.

Next game is Friday against Glacis. League table is as below, Glacis are currently bottom in tenth.

Lions Gibraltar  Wellington Front 43A, Via Queensway Road, Gibraltar.
