After last season's disappointing campaign, everyone at the club from the president down to the players were looking for a fresh start. The summer was a hectic one; new owner, new manager and whole new squad was being formed. We all welcomed the new ownership and were excited at what the future would hold. Mr Flowers signed off the deal on the 10th July and in the space of 10 days the club had welcomed over half a dozen new players to the club whilst also retaining some of last seasons players. The summer recruitment plan was well under way and everyone was keen for it to continue, with no less than 15 players coming through the door by the time the new season kicked off.
It was great to see the club welcome experienced players like Andres Salas, David Narvaez and Sergio Gines, players who have made the grade in clubs like Lucena, Algeciras and Xerez. It was also great to see the club invest in local talent, with Ashely Rodriguez, Kailan Perez and Nathan Santos signing on, whilst retaining the services of Evan, Sykes and Jayce was also a massive boost.
On the field, I believe we are making great strides on how the manager wants us to play. With every training session and every match we play we are getting to know each other more, and the system better. We have made a steady start to the season, 4 points from our opening three games, we certainly have something to build on, but of course were not getting ahead of ourselves, we still know there is a lot of work ahead and a lot of room for improvement. The whole squad are working hard to achieve our goals this season, we have a very ambitious group including the manager and the technical team and come the end of the season we want to be in and around the top 3 whilst also being successful in the cup competitions.
